Courageous Kobita
Ishrat Jahan Kobita came in our office with her uncle. She said that, “I did not want to receive money like this but it’s my responsibility to take care of my children and for that I need money.” “Whatever I have lost is no more recoverable but the money I have got is a lot for us to lead a bit better life in the future”- she added. “I think, I can do what will be the best for my children by this.” She expressed a hope that she will utilize some money for the education of their children and some for continuing a grocery shop for regular income.
Dream but true
Although, Ishrat Jahan Kobita lost the only earning member of her family, she received a significant settlement with employer, which helped her to see the new dream with her children. She is residing in the rural area of Jhenaidah. She said, I am poor and almost illiterate and I do not have any idea about our legal rights. When SRS informed me that I was entitled to get compensation from the employer according to BLA, 2006 I felt scared and at the same time, I was expecting if I would get rest of compensation. Safety and Rights Society always contacted me and I am sure that without Safety and Rights Society it would not possible for me to get the rest of the money. As a member of deceased family, initially after getting tk 50,000/- I put my signature on the settlement paper but ultimately the total achievement goes to Safety & Rights Society. She now feels that her children can grow up with some hope in the society
