Dhaka, Bangladesh — November 3, 2024 — The Safety and Rights Society (SRS) recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, marking November 1 as a milestone day in the organization’s journey to protect workers’ rights, promote workplace safety, and foster social justice. Since its inception in 2009, SRS has grown into a leading advocate for labor rights in Bangladesh, especially for marginalized communities in sectors such as construction, garment, and leather, tannery industries, sanitation and stone crushing.
Founded to address the pressing issues of labor safety and fair treatment in the workplace, SRS has dedicated itself to creating meaningful change through legal aid, advocacy, training, and community engagement. Over the past 15 years, the organization has expanded its scope to include youth empowerment, environmental action, gender-based violence prevention, and financial inclusion, all while working in collaboration with local and international partners.
The anniversary event, held at the Dhaka office, began with the cutting of an anniversary cake, symbolizing 15 years of progress and commitment. This was followed by a range of cultural programs, including traditional dance, song recitals, and poetry. These performances created a festive and lively atmosphere, bringing everyone together to honor SRS’s achievements and celebrate this milestone.
