Current Projects
- Project Title: Workplace Safety, Compensation and Accountability (WSCA)
Project Period: 01 January 2016 – 31 December 2020
Working Area:
- In relation to the work in seeking to empower female workers in the construction and garment sector, the project activities were carried out in the areas of Mohammadpur, Shaymoli, Adabor, Dhanmondi, Hazaribag and Lalbag of Dhaka city.
- In relation to the work in ensuring compensation rights to dependent families and injured workers in each and every sector, the geographical location of the project is all over Bangladesh.
- In relation to our training, seminar, research and advocacy work, the geographical location of the project is all over the Bangladesh with special focus on divisional cities such as Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Rangpur, Barisal and also stone crushing areas (Burimari, Panchagar, Jaflong, Narayanganj).

Objectives
- To ensure compensation rights of workers and their dependents families in accordance with Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006 (BLA) through legal support
- To Improve awareness on workplace health and safety through working with different stakeholders specially focusing on construction sector
- To build capacity of organisation and staffs
Expected Results:
- Ensured compensation for workers who are victims of workplace accident
- Increased awareness among Construction, garments and stone crushing workers and their employers about workplace health and safety, labour rights and gender-based violence
- Increased efficiency of the staffs

- Title of the project: Sustainable and Responsible Actions for Making Industries Care (SRAMIC)
Sustainable and Responsible Actions for Making Industries Care (SRAMIC) project funded by European Unionand ActionAid with major focus to promote female leadership particularly in both Trade Union (TU) and Worker’s Participation Committees (WPC) in RMG, Tannery and Leather Sector.In this project, Safety and Rights Society (SRS) is co-implementing partners along with ActionAid Bangladesh.
The overall objective of the project is to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth the realization of the decent work agenda for garments, leather and tannery workers in the Dhaka City and Savar areas.
Specific Objectives of the project:
- Enhance the capacity of CSOs including trade unions working in the garment, leather and tannery industries so as to make workers’ representation effectively.
- Hold Local Authorities (LAs) and business owners accountable to labor policies and laws.
- Enhance the existing legal framework in realising the above objectives with particular reference to compliance.
Project duration is 32 months from October 01, 2016 to April 30, 2019.
Expected Results of the project:
- Strengthened organizational capacity of CSOs (WPC, LTU, WC, STU, LNGOs) and LAsto effectively represent and empower workers.
- Strengthened technical capacity of CSOs to monitor, advocate and hold the government and business owners to account.
- Improved multi-actor coordination, dialogue and partnership for accountability and greater public awareness of entitlements. 4) Enhanced operationalization of the Labour Policy and Law through inclusive policy-making and the creation of a knowledge base
